Parents With Blinkers On

Ravi
All right, so I've been thinking about this and something I read like many years ago and there was a question. I forget what publication it was in. It doesn't matter which was the, the question or the title was like, "Does becoming a parent make you a bad person?" It's obviously such a ridiculous title because you obviously think the other thing, it like brings out the best in you. But the premise of the article was sort of like, because you put your kids ahead of everything else, when you become a parent, that love sometimes blinds you to basic social things. Like your kid drops his or her ice cream and then all of a sudden you just go to the front of the line to go get them another one, you know, because oh my God, they're without their ice cream.

And so I'll give you a couple of examples that reminded me of this. This weekend, you guys will, I don't know, think about it. So one is, you know, I was at Savan’s soccer game and you know, Savan’s 10, right? And so we're at a soccer game and there is, you know, this is a children's soccer game. So it's like a regular ref in the middle and then there's two line refs and the line refs are, I don't know, 14 years old, 15 years old, and one of them is a 14-year-old boy.
