Scribe is the presenting sponsor of this episode of Making Media and the magic behind the Colossus transcripts. One of the best decisions we made at Colossus was transcribing all of our audio into a searchable transcript library. We had been using another provider up until the summer of 2022 but we were constantly having issues with accuracy if our audio was just the slightest bit impaired. Whether it's training sessions, internal Q&As, or for media purposes, the value of transcripts is huge. And we are not alone. Scribe is the transcription service that powers all of S&P Global - like CapIQ - and the client list includes our friends at Tegus. Flying Under the Radar with Flightradar24

Introduction

Dom
Welcome back to Making Media. Today, we're speaking about a business that might not qualify as a traditional media company, but it does attract millions of people to its content every day and I, for one, am a huge, huge fan. The business is called Flightradar24, and I'm delighted to be joined by its CEO, Fredrik Lindahl.

Flightradar24 started as a hobby in 2006 when 2 Swedes were looking for a way to boost traffic to their price comparison website. As plane enthusiast, they installed receivers on the roofs of their homes to track planes over Stockholm, and they set up a map for others to see which planes were overhead.

The side project soon took over though and became the main venture and the company's attention shifted to tracking planes ever since. And Fredrik, who joined in 2012 and as his first assignment, incorporated Flightradar24. The business has gone from strength to strength since then and is now the clear leader in flight tracking globally.
