Introduction
Eric
This is Eric Golden. And my guest today is Eric Koziel, better known as Omnigamer in the gaming world. I was debating Web3 gaming as a use case. And my good friend told me that Eric knows more about gaming than anyone he has ever met. And I think he lives up to the billing in this conversation. Eric has worked in gaming and cybersecurity since 2012 and is now a game designer at Azra, a Web3 gaming studio.
We start this conversation with a tour to the fascinating world of speed gaming before moving into the intersection of gaming and Web3, covering topics like balance between players, speculators and collectors, the hostility of traditional gamers, and Eric's thoughts on play to win. Please enjoy my conversation with Eric Koziel, Omnigamer.
On Speed Running
Eric
So Eric, the way we got hooked up to meet each other was my partner, Kevin, I was talking to him about gaming and that I wanted to get smarter on gaming. I had all sorts of questions about game design and Web3 gaming and how it worked. And Kevin said, "I have the guy for you, you got to talk to Eric. He knows more about gaming than anyone I've ever met." Before we met, I looked you up and it's about speedrunning, if I didn't know anything about gaming, I sure didn't know about speedrunning was, but I think it's a fun place to start. Can you explain what speedrunning is and how in the world you got into it?
