I'm delighted to introduce this very special conversation with my friend, Graham Duncan. It's the longest conversation I've ever published, by a long way, and I think it might be the best.
My hope is that you get as much from this conversation as I have from Graham over the years. We will publish a much shorter version publicly, but you will be the only ones to hear this full conversation that we had at his home earlier this year.
If you’re not familiar with Graham, he is best known for founding and managing East Rock Capital. In 2006, in his early 30s, Graham convinced Stuart Miller, CEO of home construction company Lennar, to let him manage $50 million of his family's wealth. A year later, Miller gave him the rest of his capital outside of Lennar. That investment turned into East Rock which Graham built into a unique investment platform that has partnered with and seeded some of the world’s most successful investors. But what makes Graham truly special is his ability to understand people – to see what he calls "what's going on here with this human" with remarkable clarity.
