Introduction

Matt
Welcome back to Making Media. Our guests today is Peter Kafka. Now, if you listen to media podcasts, you've likely listened to Peter's Recode Media. He's been a fixture in the industry for years, and he recently announced he's going back to Business Insider, which is notable because he was the first hire, way back when it was known as Silicon Valley Insider in 2007.

It was fun to have Peter on because we could pepper him with questions on media today. And given he's seen a few cycles, we tried to key in on what's actually new versus what's cyclical. And on a personal note, I always enjoy Peter's interviews because he's not just lobbying softballs out there to guests. And he'll keep going until he gets the answer, or he has exhausted all the possible questions that he can ask looking for that answer.
