Introduction

Eric
My guest today is Tina He. Tina is currently building Station, a new blockchain based labor marketplace. We discussed Tina's personal journey as an online contributor, what drives her passion for creating a new future for work and how Station is differentiating itself from Web2 platforms. When I first spoke to Tina, I walked away incredibly impressed at her enthusiasm around this specific problem and I think you will too. Please enjoy my conversation with Tina.

Eric
Tina, thank you for joining me today.

Tina
Thank you for having me.

Background and Early Career

Eric
I thought an interesting place to start would be to rewind back in your past when you were 14 years old, writing a blog in China about education and how the Chinese handle that part of their system.

Tina
Totally. I was in middle school like other middle schoolers in China, passionate about writing and passionate about literature. Then growing up, I was lucky enough to have the resources to the American literature and European literature. Russian just had a pretty wide discourse of narratives that are not represented necessary early in the core curriculum of a day-to-day Chinese classroom. So I started to write about a lot of these things, especially around the breadth of subjects that are covered and this whole idea of standardizing everybody's curriculum across the nation and how that could stifle innovation and creativity.
