Quarterly Market Recap: Q4 2022

Introduction

Matt
All right, Eric. We can treat this as a fourth quarter recap and somewhat as an annual recap. But I want to make sure that we really capture the events of the fourth quarter because it is one that will stand out in history. And the numbers themselves don't tell much of a story, Bitcoin was down 15%, ETH was down 10%. But equity market was actually up 5%.

Reaction to FTX Fallout

But the fall of FTX is what everyone will remember. So maybe we can just start there. As you've had some time to digest everything that's happened, what's been your reaction to the fallout in the market in the fourth quarter?

Eric
The numbers do say something that I think surprises me. As we get into it and we go through the FTX Saga and everything horrible that happened, those numbers don't match how bad it was. And I think that's actually been an interesting area of strength for the asset class and a sea of wreckage and fraud and deception and lies and all these horrible things, people losing money.
