Introduction
Eric
My guest this week is B.B. Abbott. Over the past 25 years, B.B. has represented some of the generation's biggest baseball stars, including Chipper Jones, Brian McCann and past guests Corey Kluber.
This is a short but action-packed episode, where we talked about the increasing intensity of childhood athletics, the economics of the player agent model and the impact of NIL, name, image and likeness on amateur sports. We end up with a fascinating riff on how analytics have enriched the scouting process in baseball. Please enjoy this episode with B.B. Abbott.
On Childhood Athletics
Eric
B.B. thank you for joining me today. I was introduced to you by Corey Kluber, who is on a past episode that went very successful. And one of the topics Corey and I were talking about was child athletics and how parents are really intense at a young age, kids have pitching, coaches and special training sessions for really young children. And the reason why I was asking Corey was I started wondering, what is it like when a parent actually has a kid who could go to the majors.
