Demanding and Supportive

What is Ravi Gupta's story? Despite Ravi's initial discomfort, Alex and Shane go deep on his life and background. We learn about the family members who shaped him and how his career path has been anything but a straight line. Ravi reflects on how the people around him have always been "demanding and supportive" and why it's so important for him to live that way every day.

Introduction

Ravi
Okay, we ready for the Ravi show?

Shane
Yeah. We want to get to know Ravi Gupta, Ravinder Jamal Gupta better today. Ravi and I went to school together at Duke, although we were not friends at the time. We crossed paths at a few fraternity parties a few times. It's not for lack of not wanting to hang out with him. I just didn't run with him. But we got to know each other at a wedding. A buddy of ours got married, and, you know, magical things happen when you go to Santa Barbara County and you drink a lot of wine.

Alex
This all starts with the napkin story.

Ravi
Yeah, the napkin dance. It starts with Shane tying a napkin around his head at a wedding.

Alex
Explains a lot.

Shane
That's my go-to party trick. It brings people together because nothing says family and love like taking the linens from the table and wrapping them around your head. And it's a party game I highly recommend. It's great for grandparents, it's great for kids, it's great for the bride and groom, and it's ridiculous. And so we're hanging out at our friend's wedding and I tie a napkin on Ravi's head and it was love after that.
