Investing in Short

Introduction

Rick
Our teacher today is Chris Hansen, founder of long-short equity investor, Valiant Capital. Chris and I first met back in 2006 when he was working at Blue Ridge, the legendary Tiger cub founded by John Griffin, and I was just a fledgling in the investing world. Over the next 15 years, Paul and I both would learn a ton from Chris, and so this conversation was really special for us.

Some of the topics we'd cover are successfully investing in India, the land of 100 baggers, where Chris has developed an impressive track record in real domain expertise, which, I think, is especially exceptional for an investor who is both a generalist and a westerner. We also discussed the training temperament and overall constitution of a great short seller and how short sellers play such a vital role for other participants acting as market sanitizers.
